For the first time ever, Coral Springs Charter School won the state title in women’s softball after the Lady Panthers won against Callahan West Nassau in Vero Beach last May, and this video describes some of the hard work the women went through, and the year-long training it took to become number one.
“Grit is definitely something we want between the lines, we want to play clean but at the same time we want to play hard and that’s something that these girls exemplified,”said Head Coach Mark Montimurro.
The team was later honored at a Marlins game for their championship and later by the Coral Springs City Commission. Said Montimurro, “We’re giving up social life, we’re giving up fun time, we’re giving up vacations, and the end reward is raising that banner in the gym for the first time in school history and they’ll take memories with them forever.”
