A Coral Springs restaurant was ordered to close last week after health inspectors found sewage backing up through floor drains in the food-preparation area.
Taqueria La Yaquesita, located at 7380 Wiles Road, was ordered shut on November 18 after state inspectors documented two violations, including one they classified as high priority.
According to the inspection report, sewage and wastewater backed up through floor drains whenever the kitchen’s only handwashing sink was used. The affected drain sits directly in front of the cook line, an area that cannot be isolated from food preparation.
Inspectors noted the issue posed an immediate threat to public health, prompting the issuance of an immediate closure order.
The backup occurred near the triple-sink station and flowed into an area where food is actively handled, creating a contamination risk that state officials say requires immediate correction before the restaurant can reopen.
Taqueria La Yaquesita will be required to fix the plumbing issue and pass a follow-up inspection before resuming operations.
