Arheanne Bryan, the top female wrestler for J.P. Taravella High School and one of the best in Florida, won the 190-pound weight class at the Tri-County Invitational at Olympic Heights High School on January 30-31.
“She is Taravella’s first Tri-County champion, and she competed against some of the best female wrestlers in the region,” said coach Michael Bazos.
During the season, Bryan has been considered one of the best wrestlers in Florida, and Bazos said he believes she could qualify for the state championship meet.
Caden Ankele earned sixth place at the Tri-County Invitational and was the first Taravella boy to place in the meet.
“Our team wrestled well at this meet, and we finished 18th out of 30 teams,” said Bazos.
The Trojans are now preparing for the upcoming district championship meets.
