Two men face multiple felony charges of lewd and lascivious acts toward an adolescent after she claimed to police the pair had raped her.
Coral Springs Police Department records indicate Keondre Edge, 21, and Kamron Simmons, 20, both of Coral Springs, were arrested on July 19 in connection to the alleged rape of a minor aged 12 and 13 at the time.
According to court documents, the incidents occurred separately in January and July. An investigation opened on July 16 when detectives obtained a recorded statement from a witness familiar with one of the men.
The victim identified Edge and Simmons as brother figures she had known through her older brother for several years. Both often visited the family home.
The first incident allegedly occurred in January while the victim’s parents were on vacation. The victim told CSPD that Edge, Simmons, and the victim were at the residence, engaging in drinking and smoking.
The victim, then 12 years old, recalled entering the game room where Edge was present. She stated that while lying on a futon bed, Edge initiated sexual intercourse with her.
The second incident occurred on July 14, again during a time when the victim’s parents were away.
The victim, now 13 years old, recounted to CSPD how she woke up and searched for her brother. Upon entering the game room, Edge allegedly asked if she wanted to have sex, to which she agreed.
The victim reported that Edge proceeded to have intercourse with her without using protection.
On July 17, through an investigation, Edge acknowledged his involvement in both incidents during a phone call with the victim, regretting his actions.
Records show he admitted to engaging in sexual intercourse with the victim in January and again in July.
Further investigation by law enforcement included a rape kit examination conducted on July 16 and the collection of the victim’s clothing from the July 14 incident.
The victim also provided her cell phone to law enforcement, revealing text messages supporting her account of the events.
On July 19, Edge voluntarily came to the Coral Springs Police Department, where he subsequently admitted to engaging in sexual activities with the victim on the specified dates.
After his arrest, Edge was released from custody after posting a $200,000 bond.
Simmons was arrested separately on July 20. His involvement and actions are still pending, as CSPD has not made his arrest report public.
Simmons was released after posting $150,000 bond.
