Week five of the Coral Springs football season featured four teams in action, one of which recorded its first victory.
Coral Springs Charter defeated Pompano Beach High School 30-0 on Thursday. The Panthers improved to 1-4 this year and will play J.P. Taravella in their next game on Friday, September 26, at 4 p.m. The Trojans fell to 0-5 following a loss against Western High School on Thursday. During their last matchup against CSC, JPT put up a season-high 36 points but lost by two touchdowns, 50-36.
Coral Springs High School lost against South Plantation High School to fall to 0-5 this season. They will have an extremely tough test against Monarch High School on Thursday, September 26, at 7 p.m. The Knights are 3-1 this year, with their only loss coming by four against the 14th-ranked team in the state. The Knights also won 48-0 last year.
After Coral Glades recorded the first win in the city last week, they were back in action this week along with Coral Springs High School. The Jaguars lost to Stranahn High School 20-19 in overtime and fell to 1-3 on the season. Next, the Jaguars will play Spanish River Community High School on Friday, September 23, at 7 p.m. The Sharks are 2-2 this year with wins against Park Vista, Seminole Ridge, and Wellington High School but lost to Palm Beach Central and Jupiter High School.
