10 Track and Field Athletes From Coral Springs Reach Podium in State Championship

Twenty track and field students from Coral Springs participated in the States competition held at the University of North Florida. Out of these, ten students managed to reach the podium on Saturday.

J.P. Taravella had 18 students competing in the meet, nine of whom made it to the podium. The relay teams stood out, particularly the girls’ 4 x 100 relay team, which finished third overall. The team comprised of Yamila Elliott, Jade Brown, Qyrah Spann-Pierre, and Ajah Arscottt. Additionally, Jade Brown secured fifth place in the 100 meters and sixth place in the 200 meters.

In the boys’ category, the 4 x 400 relay team of Charles Green, Jasiah Clapp, Keon Clarke, and TraeJon Roberts claimed fifth place. These same runners also participated in the 4 x 800 relay and secured 11th place. Individually, Nikai Mcnee finished eighth in the long jump and ninth in the triple jump. Charles Green achieved top 16 rankings in both the 200 and 400 meters. Jasiah Clapp competed in the 800 meters, while Sebastian Merraro participated in the 400 hurdles.

Alexandra Bruno concluded her remarkable high school track and field career by making her third consecutive appearance at the States. In 2021, she became the first Panther athlete to compete in the shot put and won the District Championship. Continuing her success, she had a dominant 2022 season, followed by winning Districts and finishing second in Regionals in 2023. This year, she secured seventh place in the States.

Adrianna Harris debuted in the States and finished 16th in the shot put. Earlier this year, she won the Coral Springs Championship and achieved top three placements in Districts and Regionals.

Representing Coral Springs High School, Jeffrey Belizaire competed in the 800 meters and finished 12th place.
