On Thursday, Broward County Public Schools announced 29 district schools who earned the Five Star School Award for the 2018/19 school year, and three are in Coral Springs.
Presented by the Florida Department of Education to schools that are committed to incorporating family and community members into the school environment to enhance student learning, the award recognizes the importance of community involvement to student success.
Among those honored are Maplewood Elementary, Ramblewood Elementary, and Riverside Elementary.
To qualify for the award, schools must have active business partnerships, family engagement, and volunteer services programs, as well as organized School Advisory Councils. Also, schools must have an improvement rating of “maintaining or improving” or a grade of “C” or above for the 2018/19 school year to qualify for this award.
Superintendent Robert W. Runcie said with parents, family, and community involvement; there’s no better partnership to assure a high-quality education for students.
