Coral Glades High School was well represented at the Broward County Athletic Association scholar-athlete awards on April 18 at the Heron Bay Marriott.
Anastasia Del Valle, Brandon Elrod, Grayson Yelin, Carlos Martinez, Isabelle St. Leger, Carly Ginn, and Giana Gharakhanian were recognized for their work on and off the field.
“We are extremely proud of our scholarship athlete students,” said Principal Dr. Mark Kaplan. “These students put the time into their studies and sports. They are to be commended for their hard work and dedication to Coral Glades High.”
Football player JoJo Rispoli was also awarded the Brian Piccolo Award. Named after the late NFL player and South Florida native, the award recognizes senior athletes from Broward County Public Schools who excel in the classroom and football field.
Rispoli spent three years on the varsity football team, helping the Jaguars reach the State Playoffs for the first time in school history. The senior shined offensively and defensively with 292 rushing yards, six touchdowns, and 80 tackles.
Off the field, Rispoli earned 141 service hours, was a part of the Coral Glades Student Government Association, and worked with the Coral Springs Chargers.
