With the spread of COVID-19 as a public health crisis that is unprecedented in the U.S. and around the world, the City of Coral Springs is working with assisted living facilities, nursing homes and senior communities to ensure they comply with orders from the Department of Emergency Management.
Effective immediately, all facilities within the jurisdictional boundaries of the City of Coral Springs are required to complete an affidavit, ensuring compliance with DEM Orders 20-002 and DEM 20-005. One of these orders prohibits all individuals from visiting facilities in Broward County for 30 days.
These facilities house the population that is believed to be the most vulnerable to COVID-19.
According to the statement from the city: “We recognize the concerns of the public as it relates to their family, friends and loved ones who reside in these communities and are doing everything possible to ensure their safety.”
The city is contacting all persons listed on the Vulnerable Population Registry to ensure they are aware of the health risks associated with COVID-19, offer suggestions to self-quarantine and determine the needs of our most vulnerable residents and their families.
A list of all non-compliant facilities will be published to the public on the Coral Springs website.
