Thanks to the work of the Coral Springs Price Economic Crimes Unit, justice was found for the victims of identity theft.
Back in October of 2018, Chukwuemeka Chinye and Karen Munroe stole the identity of the victim, opened a TD Bank account in their name, diverted their mail, and stole a $20,000 check.
After reviewing the video footage provided by the bank, Monroe was identified during the investigation, and contact was made with her. Although Munroe claimed no knowledge of the crime, she identified Chinye as the subject in the passenger seat.
Chinye was on probation for similar crimes, and his probation officer requested him to appear at their office. In January 2019, SET Detectives Wilson and Walker were able to take him into custody.
At the time of his arrest, Chinye had three phones and 12 credit cards belonging to multiple victims, along with three fake identities.
A search warrant for the phones found in Chinye’s possession and subpoenas of both Chinye and Munroe’s bank accounts yielded extensive evidence of Bank Fraud, Aggravated ID Theft, Grand Theft, and Credit Card Fraud involving an additional nine victims, and $200k in losses.
On July 1 in Federal Court, Chinye pleaded to 65 months in Federal Prison, instant deportation upon his release, five years’ probation, and he will not be cooperating in Munroe’s defense.

People who victimize others are sub human.
Karen Munroe is a career con-artist, and thief. This was inevitable, justice served. Her poor parents worked so hard to give her the best. She had everything.
