Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department will be recognized for coming to the aid of the Delray Beach Fire Chief after he suffered a heart attack.
On October 29, Fire Chief Keith Tomey suffered a medical emergency while off-duty in Coral Springs and called 911 after his condition worsened.
The Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department responded to his aid, transporting him to a local hospital for follow-up care.
Delray Beach Fire Chief Tomey has been in the fire service for over 35 years, but this time, he was on the receiving end of emergency care.
He was elated at the care he received from the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department crew members, calling them a āworld-class departmentā when they came to his home to take him to the hospital.
āIt was better than textbook,ā said Chief Tomey. āIt was flawless from the time my wife called 911. I want to thank them. If it werenāt for them, I wouldnāt be hereā.
Chief Tomey will be visiting the crew and delivering lunch this week at Fire Station 71 in appreciation for their role in his quick care and recovery.
