Residents of a Coral Springs condominium deemed structurally unsafe by the city’s chief building official were given two weeks to vacate the property following an emergency order Thursday, officials said.
The Villa Bianca Condominium, a 16-unit condo at 3990 Woodside Drive, accumulated seven violations of the city’s building code, its problems ranging from a “falling” and deteriorating roof and inoperable windows to fire and electrical hazards, plus the fact its 40-year building safety inspection has not been conducted, according to city inspectors.
Alexander Hernandez, Chief Building Official for the city of Coral Springs, deemed the building structurally unsafe, leading Special Magistrate Mitchell Kraft to issue an emergency order at a hearing Thursday, records show.
According to the order, Villa Bianca tenants must leave the property by Aug. 5.
The order comes less than a month after the Champlain Towers South building collapse that killed at least 97 people in Surfside.
