Marcus Lewis has been one of the greatest players to ever come out of Coral Glades. He now officially continues his basketball career in college with Lasell University in Newton, Massachusetts.
“To play at the next level is a big accomplishment to me because I know the amount of work I put,” said Lewis, who graduated from Coral Glades in 2021. “I’m just grateful to be able to keep pushing myself and elevating at this game and as a person.”
During his junior season, Lewis contributed to one of the best teams in the past decade. The Jaguars won 12 games, which was the most they won since 2008 with 19 wins.
Lewis averaged 16.2 points per game and 8.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists playing for Head Coach Nicholas Carr as a senior.
“My time at Glades has been tremendous ever since I came,” he said. “I was surrounded by the best people and coaches, and they provided me with the opportunities to become the player and person that I am today.”
Lewis says the decision to attend Lasell came from the environment and hospitality. He feels like it was the right place for him to succeed at the highest level.
He says that many people had helped him get to this point from when Lewis started playing in third grade, including his mom, Ingrid Davidson, for all the sacrifices she made and Coach Carr, Coach Dirk, and Coach Donnell.
“He should be solid if he works hard and keeps hitting the weight room,” said Coach Carr. “He has been a solid contributor, and he has talent, but he needs to combine that with the hustle and hard work.”
Next, Lewis joins a program that only played two games this past season but previously won 10 in 2019-20.
