In their second tournament at Mater Lakes Academy in Hialeah, the Coral Springs Charter wrestling team won a stunning win over Tenoroc High School.
Tenoroc, located in Lakeland, came in as the 16th ranked team in Florida on Saturday. The Panthers also defeated Miami Coral Park but fell to SW Miami, Key West, and Mater Lakes High School.
Hunter Perez and Brock Wilson led the team by winning four of their five matches. Preston Lindsay and Keon Taylor won three times, while Jaiden Valentin, Griffin Perko, Owyn Vargas, and Andrew Lustigman had two victories. Hannah Kader also had one win.
“We have a young team with a lot of potential and room for growth, said Head Coach Eric Perez. “We are looking forward to being a completely different team come February due to teamwork and hard work.”
This season, Coral Springs Charter now moves to 6-6 after winning three of their five matches in the Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs Duals on December 4. Next, the Panthers will compete at the Gillis Strong Invitational, held at Archbishop McCarthy High School in Southwest Ranches, on December 17-18.
