Your trash could be the next great piece of art.
Students from Coral Springs have an opportunity to be rewarded for their environmentally conscious art at the 2nd Annual Recycled Art Contest.
Now through April 7, 2022, Students in grades K-12 who either reside or attend a Coral Springs school can submit recycled materials that they find around the community and construct their one-of-a-kind artwork.
“When children learn about the importance of recycling at a young age, it’s more likely that they will build and practice good recycling habits, and more importantly, be better keepers of the planet,” Monica Ospina, City of Coral Springs Sustainability Manager, said.
The artwork will be judged by select city staff. First, second, and third place winners will be chosen from each grade level.
The winners will have an opportunity to showcase their artwork during the city’s EarthFest event on April 23. Additionally, the winners will be recognized on the city’s website, social media platforms and have their art displayed at City Hall from April 15 through April 30.
Create a 2D or 3D piece and submit a photo of their work. To view specifications and guidelines, visit coralsprings.org/contest.
“Creating recycled art is an ingenious way to encourage kids to recycle while also unleashing their creative spirit,” said Ospina.
