Coral Springs High School Competes On “School Duel” TV Show

Now into its 12th season, School Duel’s academic quiz show features Coral Springs High School against Cypress Bay on Thursday, April 14.

The 12-show series features three-person teams competing in a single-elimination tournament to determine the School Duel champion.

To participate, 67 high schools in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties competed in an online test, and the top 20 schools made it to the televised rounds.

On March 10, Coral Reef defeated Coral Springs Charter 400-290. On March 17, Coral Glades defeated Western 380-370,

This year’s season features 16 qualifying high school teams, including Boyd Anderson, Cooper City, Coral Springs High School, Coral Glades, Cypress Bay, Doral Academy, Nova, Coral Reef, Hallandale, McArthur, Millennium, Miramar, Monarch, Park Vista, Coral Springs Charter, Boca Raton, Blanche Ely, South Plantation, West Broward, Western, Olympic Heights, Hollywood Hills, North Miami, and G. Holmes Braddock.

Students on the winning team each receive Chick-fil-A vouchers for an entire year. The runner-up team receives prizes from sponsors, including cash prizes for each student, courtesy of BrightStar Credit Union and Publix Supermarkets.

All participants receive School Duel trophies from EDCO Awards & Specialties.

School Duel airs at 8 p.m. every Thursday on BECON-TV through the last show on April 28. Each week’s episode is rebroadcasted at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
