Aggressive drivers, beware.
Coral Springs Police on Monday announced the creation of two new positions in the department’s traffic unit to curb aggressive driving.
The new positions are classified as Aggressive Driving Officers, police said, and will focus on speeding, tailgating, red light violations, and other infractions that cause a danger on city roads. The officers will utilize both marked and unmarked vehicles, according to the department.
Coral Springs Police Chief Brad McKeone congratulated the new Aggressive Driving Officers, August Charni and Mario Vara-Valderrama, on being chosen for the new roles.
“I know you will help keep our motorists and residents safe,” McKeone wrote in a Facebook post announcing the personnel moves.
The police department is asking residents to report their traffic and aggressive driving complaints.
Those who see vehicles driving in a reckless manner, and require immediate attention from police, are asked to call the department’s non-emergency line at 954-344-1800.
