Not only was it homecoming for the J.P. Taravella High School football team on Monday, but Head Coach Clenner Goodman picked up his first win with the Trojans.
Originally scheduled on Sept. 9, the game was rescheduled due to Hurricane Ian. JPT defeated Pompano Beach High School 7-0 for the team’s first win of the season. The last game the Trojans won was their final matchup in 2020 against Cypress Bay High School.
JPT is now 1-6 on the season and heads on the road to face Hallandale High School on Friday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. The Chargers come in with an identical record to JPT at 1-6, picking up their first win since 2020 after beating Hialeah High School 8-6 on Sept. 17.
This will be the first meeting between these teams since Hallandale’s 34-26 victory in 2018.
