McKenzie Jewell had a remarkable high school career playing various sports for Pompano Beach High School.
She has now made the official commitment to attend Eastern Florida State College to pursue her passion for softball.
Jewell was considering several Division I Programs, but her main goal was to major in nursing. After facing difficulties finding a university that fit, she found EFSC.
“[It] was a program where it checked off almost all my boxes, starting with Coach Shelby Petik, who had followed me for several years when she was an Assistant Coach at Presbyterian College,” Jewell said. “Coach Shelby genuinely cares for her players. She’s also an alum of Pompano Beach High School.”
Recently moving to Butler Farms in Coral Springs, she always dreamed of playing college softball after leading Pompano Beach to 74 wins during her four years on varsity. Jewell also hit .400 every year and 16 home runs while winning eight games on the mound. She was also a First Team All-Conference Member this season.
She plans to focus on pitching and working on pitch location on the mound before competing for a team that won 19 games a season ago.
