A Coral Springs man was arrested following a major breakthrough in the investigation of a high-profile burglary in a Plantation neighborhood on August 7.
Coral Springs Police took Mikhail Sabroche, 20, into custody on September 7, near the 11000 block of Northwest 43rd Court, on a warrant related to first-degree burglary charges.
This followed a Plantation Police investigation into the burglary of a home of money and valuables worth more than $520,000.
Following a month-long investigation into surveillance footage, a break in the case came as an informant came forward to help law enforcement identify Sabroche as one of three individuals responsible for the robbery.
According to the affidavit, on the morning of August 7, the Waterford Court Yards residence was burglarized moments after the residents left the home.
Video revealed that a white Nissan Rogue, later identified as the suspect’s vehicle, arrived at the scene. Three individuals, including Sabroche, canvassed the home and disabled the patio surveillance camera, but not before revealing his upper facial area.
This evidence from security footage reportedly showed Sabroche and unidentified men force entry into the two-story townhome by smashing a kitchen window slider.
The burglars targeted the upstairs bedroom, stealing a very large Sentry safe containing $400,000 in U.S. currency, numerous pieces of jewelry, vehicle keys, vehicle titles, and personal documents estimated to be worth over a combined half-million dollars.
This critical video footage of the suspect’s faces led to a break in the investigation after people who came forward as knowing Sabroche and identified him as one of the burglars.
According to the arrest records, after discovering his identity, detectives visited a Millileum Collegiate Academy school resource officer who had previously coached Sabroche. Upon viewing the video, without hesitation, the officers reportedly identified him as the man in the footage, further linking him to the crime.
Further investigation and warrants granted by a judge reportedly revealed web searches on Sabroche’s phone for the complex and emergency car tools, commonly used to shatter windows, just a day before the burglary. Images of the stolen property, including jewelry and bundled currency, were also found on his phone.
Sabroche was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail, where he was later released after posting a $10,000 bond.
