Good news for Coral Springs dog owners: a unique grooming and dog care facility has scheduled its grand opening for February 2024.
Scenthound, located at 1140 N. University Drive in the Maplewood Shopping Plaza will be dedicated to a wellness-based approach to canine health, says franchise owner Hector J Gonzalez. Both he and his wife, Jessica E Gonzalez, are the owners.
Based in Jupiter, FL, Scenthound is the world’s only wellness-based dog groomer. Scent, which stands for skin, coat, ears, nails, and teeth, ensures the health of all dog breeds.
According to Scenthound, their “Scent Techs” are trained to give each dog the care it requires — regardless of the breed — and the membership program allows dog parents to have the peace of mind that their dog is cared for on a routine basis.
Although the new business is slated to open its doors in February, Gonzalez says it might open a week earlier or later than the anticipated date.
And what made him and his wife open their own local Scenthound? “I visited the one in Parkland and fell in love,” he said. “What I loved was the focus and the routine care.”
Hector saw an ad for the Scenthound in Parkland and checked it out with their 5-year-old Shih Tzu, Coco.
“I enjoyed the service done by Stacy,” he said, referring to Stacy Klein, one of the owners of the Parkland franchise. “I was blown away by the company in general and the service I received.”
He added that he was most attracted by how Scenthound “bundles” all facets of canine care and offers dog owners simple membership options to ensure their pet gets the routine care it needs.
Hector, 35, and Jessica, 32, are Coral Springs residents. Hector is a native of Cuba who obtained a business degree from Florida Atlantic University, and Jessica, from Ecuador, just finished nursing school and is about to take her nursing exams.

The concept was founded in 2015 by CEO Tim Vogel, who had spent many years running both a mobile grooming business and grooming shops. He saw the industry’s shortcomings and embarked on a mission to provide dogs and their owners with a fast, easy, affordable solution to keep them clean and looking great while maintaining their overall health and wellness.
Hector said being part of a company expanding locally and nationwide is exciting.

“We want to get involved with the community,” he said. “We’ve been going to every single event at city hall. When we open, we want to take part in every event.”
