Sophomore Brianna Godfrey made a statement in her first game on the University of Maryland softball team on Friday.
The 2021 graduate from Coral Springs Charter recorded a win and did not allow a hit until the sixth inning. She finished the game with six shutout innings on 73 pitches and striking out three for the team’s first victory of the season. They went on to go 2-3 over the weekend.
Godfrey was a star during her time at CSC, won four State Championships with the Panthers, and played on the team since she was in sixth grade. She won 60 games and had an era of .71 .Offensively, she hit .450 with seven home runs and 86 RBIs before playing her freshman year at Marshall University.
Godfrey earned her first win against Western Illinois and made the Sun Belt All-Conference Tournament Team with a three-hit game against South Alabama. She will be back in action with Maryland on Friday, February 16, against Southeast Missouri at 1 p.m.
