Ethan Persten, a top swimmer for the Coral Glades High School swim team, will represent the Jaguars in four events at the state championship in Ocala on Friday, November 14.
Persten will compete as an individual in the 100-meter freestyle and the 200-meter freestyle races at the state championship. He finished in third place in both events at the regional meet in Fort Lauderdale.
He will join Galen Tortorella, Ben Denevi, and Miguel Morierra on the 4×100 freestyle relay and the 4×50 medley relay.
A junior and a top academic student, Persten wants to join the University of Florida swim team and compete for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team. His father, Brian Persten, is proud of Ethan. “He really loves swimming and trains very hard every day. He wakes at 4 a.m. for training, goes to school, and then swims after school,” said Brian.
