Ethan Persten is a winning athlete on the Coral Glades High School swim team and the TS Aquatics swim club based in Tamarac.
A junior, Persten, won first place in the 100-meter freestyle and 200-meter freestyle at the Broward County Athletic Association swimming and diving championships at the Plantation Aquatic Center on October 11.
"I felt good about my performance today, and I am looking forward to the upcoming district championship meet. I want to qualify for the state championship meet," said Ethan. "I credit my coach, Andre Bailey at TS Aquatics, for helping me become successful."
After Coral Glades, Persten hopes to compete for the University of Florida swim team and then qualify for the Olympic Games.
His father, Brian Persten, is impressed with Ethan's performance. "Ethan will earn an associate's degree from Broward College by the time he graduates from high school, and I believe he will get into Florida based on his academic performance. He is also continuing to improve as a swimmer," said Brian.
Other top Coral Glades swimmers at the county meet include Galen Tortorella, third place in the 100-meter breaststroke, and Ben Denevi, sixth place in the 100-meter butterfly.
