A late-night argument over parking a U-Haul in Coral Springs escalated into alleged gun threats and the arrest of a man, police said.
According to a Coral Springs Police Department arrest report, Chris Jorry Pierre, 21, of Coral Springs, was arrested September 13 on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
Records show officers responded to an apartment complex in the 3500 block of Northwest 114th Lane at approximately 11:33 p.m. on September 12 after receiving a 911 report of a man threatening residents with a firearm.
The alleged victim told officers his stepdaughter had been attempting to park a U-Haul when she got into an argument with people downstairs. According to statements documented in the report, the dispute began after she asked the driver of a white BMW to move his vehicle so she could maneuver the truck.
The driver refused, and the woman went upstairs to ask her stepfather for help, police said.
The alleged victim told investigators he was standing on his balcony when Pierre entered the parking lot, displayed a firearm, and threatened him.
According to the report, Pierre racked the firearm and said, “Come on down, I’m gonna shoot you.”
The man told officers he went inside and called 911. He also said he knew Pierre because he had let him sleep in his vehicle and residence about three weeks earlier, when Pierre was homeless.
The stepdaughter, whom an officer described as intoxicated, told police she saw Pierre and another person brandish firearms. She also reported hearing Pierre threaten to shoot her stepfather, according to the affidavit.
Other witnesses gave different accounts.
A downstairs resident told officers there had been an ongoing dispute with the upstairs residents and alleged that people upstairs had said, “Everybody can get shot.” She said she did not see any firearms.
During the investigation, an officer reviewed and collected a video recorded by a witness. The officer wrote that the speaker could not be clearly identified, but the word “shot” and an audible sound of a firearm being racked could be heard.
Pierre initially left the location. After officers left, a resident contacted police to report that he had returned, and officers returned and arrested him without incident at approximately 3:48 a.m. September 13.
Pierre was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
