The Coral Springs Museum of Art celebrated its move from 2855 Coral Springs Drive to its new Downtown Coral Springs location at the intersection of University Drive and Sample Road in the Modera complex with a series of events.
The museum held a private opening event for city leaders on October 8 and a larger community event on the evening of October 9. The museum introduced an exhibit, “Picasso: A Graphic Journey,” featuring major works by Pablo Picasso, including 57 original prints he produced between 1923 and 1972 from the collection of Timothy Collins of Los Angeles. According to museum information, the exhibit shows Picasso’s approach to printmaking over more than 70 years.
The museum also introduced an exhibit by artist Janet Gold, titled “Cages and Collage.” According to museum information, her work uses mixed media to explore memory, meaning, and the passage of time.
“This new space for our museum is huge. We are in a good new location, and our art museum is a beacon for northwest Broward County,” said Juliana Forero, museum director.
The city’s approved capital budget, the Community Redevelopment Agency’s (CRA’s) capital fund, and landlord and tenant allowances are funding the new museum location. The commission approved build-out services on December 3, 2025.
The project is funded with approximately $2 million from the approved city capital budget and $1 million from the CRA’s capital fund. The City approved this on November 17, 2025. The property owner will also contribute approximately $500,000 in landlord and tenant allowances.
Funding from the CRA will pay $179,300 per year toward the cost of leasing the new space, increasing by 3% each year until 2032, according to city information.
Admission to the new location will remain free. The former gallery will be used as a rental space for private and community events, generating revenue for the city. The old and new museum facilities will offer educational programming. Art classes will be offered at the former museum location using drawing, painting, mixed media, and ceramics studios.
