Broward County’s top girls’ cross-country runner, Kendall Parrott, lives in Coral Springs and took first place at the BCAA Championship Friday at Markham Park.
After finishing second a year ago, the sophomore, who competes for St. Thomas Aquinas High School, finished first among 127 runners with a time of 20:08.16.
“This means everything to me considering last year I came in second,” Parrott said. “I really felt like giving up, but I kept reminding myself that it’s never over till it’s over, and I ended up coming away with the win.”
Parrott has been running 5Ks since she was a child and began competing in them during seventh grade at Coral Springs Charter. She will now gear up for the postseason and race at District and Regionals, potentially competing for a State Championship next month.
