{Spirit Christmas}
The holiday season is arriving early in Coral Springs as Spirit Christmas prepares to open a temporary store at the former Big Lots location at 725 N. University Drive.
The seasonal retailer, created by the company behind Spirit Halloween, is expanding its Christmas-themed shopping experience to 44 locations across 15 states for the 2026 holiday season, including its first stores in Florida.
The Coral Springs location is among four planned for Florida, joining stores in Clearwater, Jacksonville and Winter Garden. The Coral Springs store is scheduled to open in November, after the Halloween shopping season ends.
Much like Spirit Halloween transforms vacant retail spaces into temporary Halloween destinations, Spirit Christmas will turn the former Big Lots storefront into a holiday shopping destination filled with Christmas decorations, gifts and seasonal attractions.
Shoppers can expect a variety of holiday merchandise, including Christmas trees, ornaments, wreaths, string lights, outdoor inflatables, festive clothing, stocking stuffers and other seasonal gifts.
The retailer also offers animated holiday decorations, collectible merchandise and products inspired by popular Christmas movies and characters.
According to the company’s announcement, visitors will also find interactive holiday displays, including the Candy Cane Express, an attraction designed to immerse guests in the sights, sounds and scents of Christmas.
Another attraction, Inflatable Land, will feature oversized holiday decorations and familiar characters, including Frosty the Snowman. Heat Miser and Snow Miser, characters from the classic holiday television special “The Year Without a Santa Claus,” will also be featured in the seasonal experience.
“The holidays are so much more than what’s under the tree. They’re about the traditions families return to year after year and the magic of creating new ones,” said Kym Sarkos, executive vice president of Spirit.
“From decorating your home and trimming the tree to family game nights and white elephant exchanges, we’re proud to offer a holiday destination where guests can discover new favorites and create memories that become part of their own holiday traditions.”
Spirit Christmas debuted in 2024 with eight stores in the Northeast before expanding to 30 locations in 2025. This year’s expansion marks the retailer’s third season and its arrival in Florida.
The Coral Springs location currently operates as a Spirit Halloween store and is expected to transition to Spirit Christmas after Halloween. The holiday store is scheduled to open Nov. 6, according to published store-opening schedules.
