Losing a beloved family pet is one of the hardest things a child will endure.
Newly published author Tracey Dean Widelitz hopes her children’s book A Heavenly World might help kids and their parents deal with that grief.
Dean Widelitz was born in Fort Lauderdale, raised in Plantation, and has been living at Park Place in Coral Springs for the past 32 years. She is also a published poet and an accomplished photographer.
“I am over the moon to be a published author and feel honored to be able to share this story. If there is even one person who is touched by my book and finds comfort in it, it will be worth all the money in the world to me,” she said.
She wrote the book after the sudden, painful loss of her family pet puggle, Precious.
“I lost my little shadow. We had to say goodbye to her over the phone after the vet found a tumor on her spine. We should have had many more years with her,” Dean Widelitz said, adding she believes the dogs find their owners and come into their lives for a reason.
She “sat down with her tears” that night and started writing a story of a little girl and her dog that will later become her first book.
She hopes A Heavenly World can help children, adults, and families cope with the loss of a beloved pet and best friend while answering the question of where dogs go when they must leave their humans.
“Told in a simple, beautiful, and heavenly way of their journey with us from the beginning to the end, this is a heartfelt story of the connection between children and pets,” she said, hoping her book becomes a beautiful “tail” that is read for generations.
Published by Newman Springs Publishing, Inc. A Heavenly World is available in paperback, Nook, and Kindle on Barnes and Noble, Amazon, Walmart, Books-A-Million, and Apple iTunes.
Dean Widelitz will join the Story Time at Barnes and Nobles in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, June 25, and sign copies of her book for the readers.
Signed copies are also available at the Boca Raton location of the store. The book will soon be available at Barnes and Nobles in Coral Springs and Plantation.
