A school custodian was found dead Monday morning at Coral Glades High School from an apparent suicide.
According to Coral Springs Police Officer Chris Swinson, Mark Rissky, 59, was found deceased by staff before students arrived on campus. School staff sent out a message to all Coral Glades High School families:
“We wanted to pass the news along that early this morning before students arrived, our head custodian Mr. Rissky passed away. It is important to know that it was in an isolated area of the school before students arrived. This is obviously a devastating loss for our school community and we ask that you keep his family in your thought and prayers. Crisis counselors will be available for students and adults throughout the day and week. If you feel your child has any adverse reactions, contact the school immediately .”
In 2018, Rissky was named Employee of the Year. The school’s PTO wrote that Rissky was famous for always having a smile on his face and for being the first one to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
He is being eulogized on his Facebook page by teachers and friends.
Business Education Teacher Drew Goldfinger wrote: “You always gave everyone at school everything you had, and never asked for anything in return…..you will be missed.”
Dana Cohn Goldfarb wrote: will never forget all of our early morning talks. We laughed often. To his sister and family please know he was such a loved man. Every time his name was mentioned, they would say, “Mark is the best.”
Social Studies Teacher Steven Beauchamp wrote: “I have had the privilege to have worked with you for the last 15+ years. You were the kindest, dedicated, loyal, hardworking and overall amazing individual. You always brought a smile to your coworker’s faces even when things were rough for you. You will be missed.”
