The Coral Springs Police Department reported numerous crimes across the city between May 5 and May 11, 2025. Please note that the police have redacted the names of victims and addresses of most incidents.
Burglaries and Thefts
A burglary with assault was reported on May 5 near Coral Springs. The suspect entered the premises and physically attacked the victim.
Multiple felony retail thefts occurred at Walmart, Publix, Macy’s, and Home Depot. Estimated losses ranged from $69 to $1,800.
A robbery by sudden snatching occurred on May 11 at N University Dr. The victim reported a loss of $2,899.
Grand thefts were reported throughout the week, including one case with an estimated loss of $4,000 on May 7 and another of $2,250 on May 9.
A burglary at Saint Andrews Church (non-forced entry) was reported on May 9.
A burglary to a business with forced entry occurred between May 5 and 6 at 1 N University Dr. Estimated loss: $69.
An abandoned U-Haul vehicle that had not been returned was reported stolen on May 9.
A burglary of a residence with forced entry occurred on May 8.
Fraud and Identity Crimes
One victim lost $143,846 in a fraud incident reported on May 9.
Multiple reports of fraudulent credit card use, impersonation, and identity theft were logged, including cases at Coral Ridge Drive and University Drive.
A fraud-by-false-pretense case resulted in a $450 loss on May 11.
Assaults and Batteries
Several domestic battery cases were reported, including:
May 6 and 9: incidents involving touch or strike without consent.
May 10: battery on a person over 65 years old.
On May 6, a man was falsely imprisoned against his will at 3111 N University Dr.
Multiple simple battery cases occurred throughout the week in residential areas.
Other Notable Incidents
A lewd or lascivious act was reported on May 6.
A written threat to kill or do bodily harm was reported on May 11.
A person was exposed for indecent behavior on May 9.
Several Baker Acts were issued throughout the week, indicating individuals taken into protective custody for mental health evaluations.
One case of elder neglect was reported on May 10.
Animal control responded to a dog bite incident on May 10.
Recovered and Found Property
Items were found at locations including N University Dr, NW 62nd Ave, and NW 91st Ave. Some were reported as lost property.
Arrests
Janetta Joseph, 44, was charged with grand theft ($751–$5,000).
Joel Ern Pizarro, 28, was arrested for felony retail theft with a prior conviction.
Khalfani Anthony Campbell, 30, was charged with false imprisonment.
Justin Rosen, 33, was arrested for making written threats to kill or injure.
Christopher Thompson, 20, and Daevion Tolbert, 18, were charged with retail theft at Walmart.
Curteeciah La`shay Bessent, 23, was arrested for grand theft retail ($751–$5,000).
Alba Lucia Rios, 69, was charged with shoplifting.
Brenda June Leatherwood, 65, was arrested for trespassing at Macy’s.
Alenst St-jean, 20, was arrested twice in two days for domestic battery.
Kevin Peter Litwiler, 59, was arrested for shoplifting at Publix.
Odell Whitfield, 68, was arrested for failing to return a rented U-Haul.
Rafael Campos, 31, was arrested for obstructing an officer without violence.
