J.P. Taravella High School has officially introduced Pat Pisani as the new head coach of its varsity baseball program.
Pisani is no stranger to the Trojans, having spent six years as an assistant coach with the program. He is also entering his third year teaching at Taravella in a 19-year career as an educator in Broward County.
Born in New Jersey and raised primarily in South Florida, Pisani graduated from Piper High School in 1991. He later returned to Piper as a teacher, spending 11 years there before eventually making the move to Taravella and is currently working as a Government/Economics teacher.
Along with baseball, Pisani has coached football throughout his career in education and has made athletics a major part of his life.
“If I’m not in the classroom, the only place I will be is on the field,” Pisani said. “I’m very excited about the opportunity that has been presented, and I embrace the responsibility of being an educator and coach.”
After six years as an assistant, Pisani is familiar with both the program and the expectations surrounding Taravella baseball. The Trojans have a rich history, and Pisani hopes to add another successful chapter while developing his players on and off the field.
“I love what I do both in the classroom and on the baseball field,” Pisani said. “I make no promises, and as head coach, I will do what’s in the best interest of Taravella baseball and the student-athletes that play for us.”
Pisani is also setting high expectations for his first season. Taravella has not won a district championship in six years, something he hopes to change immediately.
“Our team will be a great representation of the school and the tradition that Taravella has had for decades,” Pisani said. “We will be district champs in April and make a deep run in regionals.”
