Fall is upon us! There are many great events to mark the change. Some of the highlights include our Stanley Cup Champion, Florida Panthers, ready to drop the puck and raise a banner as the new season starts.
Broward County will host the Brazil Expo Florida, or if you need a break, enjoy cooler weather at our parks and beaches. These options and more are ready for you! For a complete list of events (large and small), check out visitlauderdale.com and Go Panthers!
Broward County Transit is going green. Recently, Transit was awarded $25,000,000 through the federal government’s Low and No Emission Grant Program to fund the “2024 Broward County Transit Electrification and Sustainability Project.” This will help Broward County to expedite the replacement of old diesel buses, facilitate the purchase of battery electric buses, and creation of on-route charger infrastructure. Broward County is leading the way in bringing transportation into the new decade in a sustainable manner that protects the environment and provides the best service to residents.
In September, I was honored to attend the Broward Cultural Division’s annual “Artist Connect” at the Coral Springs Museum of Art. The event provides a forum for current, past, and prospective artists. Artist grants through the County provide an opportunity to connect and network with members of the community. The event also showcases the great exhibitions at the museum right here in District 3. Looking forward to seeing the grantee’s works in the coming year and supporting the grant program as it continues to inspire future artists to attain new heights.
October means it is time to vote! Broward County will be providing state-of-the-art election services with the brand-new Supervisor of Elections facility that just opened in July. Residents are able to observe the entire process as it plays out throughout the month and on election day. Early voting begins October 21 and runs through November 3, with Election Day Voting is November 5. You may also request an absentee ballot through Browardvotes.gov. Make a plan to vote with all of your family and thank you for participating in democracy!
Looking for an evening out or fun time for the kids? Broward Parks is kicking events into high gear for the fall season! From concerts to the Food Truck Frenzy and Hayrides, and Trunk or Treats, October truly has an event for all members of the family! Take advantage of the cooler temperatures and have a great time at one of Broward’s many parks!
Finally, whether you are enjoying a spooky (but not scary) Halloween, or the traditions of Octoberfest please do so responsibly. Please remember to not drink and drive and enjoy these holidays. For all who celebrate I also wish a Happy Rosh Hashanah, and an easy fast to those observing Yom Kippur.
