Broward Health Coral Springs celebrated new investments in emergency care with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a state-of-the-art CT scanner in the emergency room and a newly renovated EMS breakroom.
The event brought together hospital leadership, physicians, members of the North Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners, elected officials, community leaders, and representatives from fire rescue and EMS agencies.
Kristen Bowman, CEO of Broward Health Coral Springs, said the new Siemens Pro.Pulse dual-source CT scanner will improve emergency care, particularly for cardiac patients.
“We are so proud of the investment we are making at Broward Health Coral Springs,” Bowman said. “The dual-source scanner is especially important for our cardiac CTA patients since the dose is significantly less due to the updated software, and with its location in the ER, it will markedly improve our turnaround time.”
Hospital officials said the scanner provides higher-resolution images, faster scan times, and reduced radiation exposure, helping doctors diagnose and treat patients more quickly in emergency situations.
The hospital also unveiled a renovated EMS breakroom designed to support first responders. The updated space provides EMS crews with an area to complete paperwork, rest after calls, and access refreshments before returning to service.
Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department Fire Chief John Whalen said the improvements strengthen the partnership between the department and the hospital.
“This new breakroom creates a more welcoming space for our crews and helps them quickly reset and get back on the road serving our community,” Whalen said.
