2024 Scholarship recipients: Alexandra Dreszer, Lillian Jones, and Morgan Brooke Wilder
The Carbonell Awards, South Florida’s theater and arts honors, is now accepting applications for the 2025 Jack Zink Memorial Student Scholarships.
High school seniors in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties pursuing degrees in theater or journalism are eligible to apply by February 10, 2025.
Each year, three students, one from each county, are awarded a $2,000 scholarship based on talent, experience, and dedication to their field.
In 2024, 2024 Scholarship recipients were Alexandra Dreszer of Miami Arts Charter High School, Lillian Jones of Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts, and Morgan Brooke Wilder of North Broward Preparatory School.
To date, the Carbonell Awards have distributed over $130,000 in scholarships since the program’s inception in 1978.
Applicants must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA, reside in one of the three eligible counties, and be nominated by a school or theater mentor.
Finalists will participate in interviews or auditions in March, with winners honored during the Carbonell Awards Celebration on November 17, 2025, at FAU’s University Theatre in Boca Raton.
Named after journalist and arts advocate Jack Zink, the scholarship program highlights the organization’s mission to support South Florida’s arts community through education and recognition. Applications and full guidelines can be found at carbonellawards.org.
