As Purim approaches, the Chabad Jewish Center is gearing up for a festive event that promises fun for the whole family.
On Wednesday, March 20, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., the center will host a Hamantaschen baking session, inviting families to come together for a night of bonding and celebration.
Baking Hamantaschen has long been a tradition among Jewish families, offering a unique opportunity for parents and children to spend quality time together while preparing for the holiday. The triangular-shaped pastries filled with sweet or savory fillings hold a special significance in the Purim festivities.
According to tradition, the name “Hamantaschen” is derived from Haman, the villain of the Purim story, whose triangular hat or ears are symbolized by the pastry’s shape.
During the event, participants can mix, fill, and shape their Hamantaschen under the guidance of experienced bakers. The center will provide all the necessary ingredients and equipment, allowing families to focus on the joy of baking together.
The cost is $10 per child, and it is free for Hebrew School families. The Chabad Jewish Center, located at 11325 W. Atlantic Blvd. in Coral Springs, welcomes families of all backgrounds to the festivities. Sign up here.
