A Message from Coral Springs Police Chief Bradley McKeone
Summertime in Coral Springs means making a splash in a local pool, creating memories with family and friends, attending summer camps, celebrating summer holidays, and so much more.
As we have fun this summer, I would like to remind everyone to enjoy activities safely. Remember to always supervise children near water, allow plenty of time for summer camp drop off and pick-ups, and never allow children to go near or ignite at-home fireworks.
Although citizens can legally light fireworks on their own, attending our city’s celebration is the safest way to view a fireworks display. Our Fourth of July Celebration will take place at Mullins Park starting at 5 p.m. with fireworks set to light the night sky at 8:45 p.m. In addition to fireworks, there will be live entertainment, food trucks, and more!
We look forward to celebrating the 247th birthday of the United States of America with our community.
Summer school is taking place at select schools in Coral Springs. The schools hosting summer schools are Eagle Ridge Elementary, Maplewood Elementary, Parkside Elementary, Coral Glades High, and Coral Springs Charter. Please be mindful when driving through these school zones. Summer school operates Mondays through Thursdays from Tuesday, June 20 to Thursday, July 27. Remember: slow down, put phones away, and watch for pedestrians.
Our popular Safety Town Camp is back for another summer! Safety Town is a nationally recognized program for children ages 4-6 that uses engaging, interactive lessons to teach children about bicycle safety, fire safety, and personal safety. The summer camp, operated by Parks and Recreation in coordination with the police and fire departments, will be held weekly during July from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The camp concludes every weeklong session with a graduation ceremony on Fridays.
I’m pleased to share that we will be hosting additional sessions of our popular S.A.F.E. (Self-defense Awareness & Familiarization Exchange) classes for women ages 13 and up. This free class, taught by Coral Springs Police Officers, provides women with self-defense techniques, violence prevention awareness, and more. The first session will take place on Wednesday, July 12, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Coral Springs Gymnasium and Wednesday, July 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Senior Center at Sartory Hall. Register online.
Effective July 1, 2023, Constitutional Carry legislation (H.B. 534) is in effect for the State of Florida, which removes the requirement for a license to carry concealed weapons for qualified individuals. Learn more about H.B. 534.
