The city was on full display in District 1A, with Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Coral Glades, Coral Springs Charter, and J.P. Taravella all competing this week.
While all four teams came in with different storylines, the Jaguars shined brightest when it mattered the most, picking up a pair of wins. After going 6-6 in the regular season, Coral Glades secured the top spot in the District and faced Marjory Stoneman Douglas in the opening round.
Having already won a five-set match against the Eagles in the regular season, the Jaguars had a more routine three-set win in the semifinals as MSD finished the season 1-10, with their lone win coming against Coconut Creek High School.
JPT then knocked out Coral Springs Charter in the other semifinals for their seventh win of the season. The Panthers, who recently honored their senior class, finished the season 11-8 despite beating the Trojans in the final regular season match a week ago.
In the final, the Jaguars won in five sets over JPT to win a District Championship. Coral Glades is set to play in Regionals, while the Trojans, now 7-9, will have to see if they qualify.
Coral Springs High School fell against Calvary Christian Academy in the District Semifinals in four sets. They finished the season with a record of 8-7.
