With the regular season ending, Coral Springs High School hosted several Senior Nights while other teams completed their year.
In their final home game of the season, the baseball team honored their seniors before their game over South Plantation High School on Tuesday. The Colts honored James McShane, Alexander Montero, Nicholas Pina, Giovanni Rosa, Daniel Aneja, Emmanuel Alejandro, Martin Matlick, Charles Wilson and Miles Tavarez. Despite scoring seven runs in the first inning, the game was postponed shortly after and will not be resumed.
CSHS finished the regular season at 11-9 and is set to play in the District Tournament as the three seed. They will face Olympic Heights Community High School in the opening round and are on the other side of the draw from the two-time State Champions in Marjory Stoneman Douglas.
The softball team beat Piper in their last game 12-2 to move to 5-5 on the season. Their seniors are Brandy Bien-aime, Jade Berry, Renee Lecompte, Sabrina Seal, and Veronica Nelson. Dahire De Jesus Nieves knocked in two runs in their last game, while Kayla Hillard had one. The Lady Colts stole seven bases and got an outstanding pitching performance from Seal, who allowed only one earned run in five innings and struck out eight.
They are set to play J.P. Taravella High School in the opening round of the District Tournament on Monday at 6 p.m
The boys’ volleyball team recognized Sean Ortiz, Mitch Jean Mary, Julian Ehrenberg, and Manuel Hernandez before their five set win over Marjory Stoneman Douglas. They won 25-19, 25-19, 22-25, 23-25, 15-11 for their eighth win of the season.
John Decelstino led the way with 13 killsaxd 22 digs. Ortiz also had 13 kills while along with Ortiz while Mark Saintelus and Jean-Mary combined for 18. Saintelus also had 15 blocks with Decelste recording 22 digs as they get set for the District Tournament next month.
The Coral Springs High School girls’ tennis team had their only win coming over Blanche Ely High School in their first match. Sophie Franklin, Janine Brown, and Anaya Johnson all picked up wins, while the Lady Colts fell 5-0 in their second match against Deerfield Beach High School. Melody Thermidor and Gabriella Stubblefield competed for CSHS this year, but CSHS fell against Coral Springs Charter.
The boys’ tennis team had their best performance this season against the Panthers. While CSHS fell 5-2, Landon Park and Aaron Pinsky recorded individual wins, with Joseph Mullins also playing number-one singles. The boys’ and girls lacrosse teams also completed their season. The boys won two games before falling to Coral Glades in the District Tournament, while the girls had their only win against Plantation High School.
