All Five Coral Springs Football Teams Fall in Tough Week

The high school football season continued this week, with all five local teams in action for the first time this season. Unfortunately, all five teams dropped their games.

After completing its game against Pine Crest School on Monday, Coral Springs Charter played again four days later, traveling to Forest Hill High School on Friday. The Panthers lost 22-21 after giving up a late touchdown and allowing the two-point conversion.

Coral Springs Charter will have a week off before facing Pompano Beach High School on Friday, October 18, at 7 p.m. The Golden Tornadoes won their season opener against Parkridge Christian High School but have lost their last two games to Somerset Prep and Everglades High School.

The Panthers defeated Pompano Beach 41-18 in the teams’ lone meeting last season. Coral Springs High School played its first game of the season after forfeiting its first two games following a late coaching change. The Colts lost 52-2 despite scoring a late safety on a botched snap. Coral Springs will have a week off before facing Hallandale High School on Thursday, September 17, at 7 p.m. Hallandale enters the matchup with a 0-2 record.

The Coral Glades team lost to Cypress Bay High School 52-7 on Friday night, dropping to 1-2 on the season. The Jaguars’ lone win came against North Broward Prep, and they face Park High School Vista Community High School in their next game on Thursday, October 10, at 7 p.m. The Cobras enter the matchup after a 28-0 victory over South Plantation High School. The Cobras previously lost to Wellington and Palm Beach Gardens High School.

Coming off a win the previous week, J.P. Taravella lost to Cooper City High School 41-0 on Thursday night, dropping to 1-2 this season. The Trojans ‘ lone win came against Northeast High School, and they will face Pembroke Pines Charter in their next game on Thursday, October 10, at 6 p.m. Pembroke Pines Charter is also 1-2 this season, with its lone win coming against Northeast High School and losses to Fort Lauderdale and Cooper City High School.

Parkridge Christian High School was looking to make it two straight wins after earning its first-ever victory a week earlier against Babcock High School. However, the Panthers lost to South Miami High School 36-0.

Parkridge Christian is now 1-2 in its inaugural season and will face Boca Raton Christian High School on Friday, September 11, at 7 p.m. The Blazers enter the game with a 3-0 record and have outscored their opponents 135-51 this season following wins over Glades Day, Masters Academy, and St. Edward’s High School.
