Coral Glades’ junior varsity football team may not get many opportunities to play, but they do their best to make them count.
The Jaguars had only their second game this season and settled for a 20-20 tie against Plantation High School Wednesday night.
Head Coach Andres Torres, who is also the assistant coach for the varsity team under Cam Thomas, thought his team improved a great amount from their last game with more consistency and effort for most of the night.
“I hope to see more strides in their improvement for JV as they develop and grow into playing at the high school level, which will lead to an easier transition into varsity,” said Coach Torres. “The expectation for the young guys to come in and contribute right away.”
Coral Glades took a 20-6 lead into halftime after three first-half touchdowns. Jaedon McGhee returned a kickoff for the first score of the game. Then, Andrew Eccleston rushed for a touchdown before defensive end Israel Bailey recovered a fumble to make it 20-6.
Coral Glades will have their next game at home on Wednesday, October 6 at 6:30, when they face off at Coconut Creej High School.
