Coral Glades running back AJ Casseus has officially committed to play college football at Stetson University.
“It feels great to have more opportunity to play the sport that I love, especially at the Division I level,” Casseus said.
Casseus grew up playing flag football before transitioning to tackle football at age 12. He went on to put together three strong varsity seasons with the Jaguars. As a junior, he rushed for 523 yards and two touchdowns while adding 172 receiving yards and one touchdown. In his senior season, Casseus rushed for 421 yards, highlighted by a 70-yard touchdown run — the longest of his high school career.
The Jaguars doubled their win total this past season, finishing with six victories and qualifying for the postseason. Casseus said that for college, he was looking for a school close to home where he could build strong relationships with the coaches and players.
“Stetson is getting a very smart and athletic player who can excel in all 3 phases on the field,” Head Coach Rocco Casullo said.
Looking ahead, Casseus is focused on improving his size, strength, and overall skill set as he prepares to join a Stetson program that earned wins last season against Warner, Davidson, and Morehead State University.
