It was a memorable win for the Coral Glades girls varsity volleyball team after defeating Marjory Stoneman Douglas Wednesday night for the first time in school history.
The Jaguars picked up a 3-0 win over the Eagles despite struggling against them in the past.
Coral Glades took the opening set 25-22. Then in the second, after grabbing a 24-17 lead, MSD stormed back to even the score at 24. However, Coral Glades won the final two points to take the second.
In the third, with each team trading points early on, the Jaguars closed the match with three straight points to win 25-23.
In her first match back, Gia Pulcher was the most valuable player, according to her coach, Kaitlin Ledbetter.
“Her energy, along with everyone else’s, pulled off that win tonight,” said Ledbetter. “This team came together and fought for every point.”
This win was the seventh of the season in nine games for Coral Glades. They will face another tough challenge on Tuesday, September 23, when they face J.P. Taravella at home at 6 p.m.
