Ten candidates have qualified to run in the 2026 Coral Springs municipal election, setting the official ballot for mayor and three City Commission seats.
The qualifying period closed Friday, finalizing a field that includes one unopposed incumbent, two candidates for mayor, five candidates for Seat 3, and three candidates for Seat 4, according to city election records.
An eleventh qualifying candidate, Commissioner Shawn Cerra, qualified without opposition for Seat 2 and was automatically reelected to another term. Candidates who qualify without opposition are elected automatically and do not appear before voters on the general election ballot.
Mayor Scott Brook and Commissioner Joshua Simmons qualified for the mayor’s race, Seat 1.
In the Seat 3 contest, William “Bill” Capplis, Kohy Holmes, Marly Metayer, Erick Nyatenya, and Terry Ann Williams Edden all qualified to run.
For Seat 4, Jeffrey Adelman, Tristan Celestin, and Jennifer Levi qualified for the ballot.
The Coral Springs municipal election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026.
The Seat 3 race is for the unexpired term previously held by Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer, who died in April. Her mother, Marly Metayer, is running to finish her daughter’s term.
The race’s winner will serve the remaining two years of the term.
Nancy Metayer, a longtime Coral Springs public servant and environmental advocate, was fatally shot by her husband, Stephen Bowen, who is charged with murder, according to police.
