Veterans often face challenges reintegrating after their service ends.
The Veterans Coalition of Coral Springs is helping veterans by providing them with a free AT&T smartphone. On Monday, June 15, at 7 p.m., at Veterans Hall, 2503 Coral Springs Drive, they will distribute free smartphones to military veterans who can prove they served honorably.
Each phone will have unlimited talk, text, and data until December 2027.
According to Jason Ramsey, president of the Veterans Coalition of Coral Springs, Cell Phones for Soldiers is a charity run by AT&T to distribute phones to veterans.
They reached out to the Florida Veterans Coalition, a statewide partner of local veterans’ organizations, and is providing any military veteran with a government ID proving honorable service, a Fusion 5G smartphone,
“Many veterans are struggling financially and have to decide if they want to pay for food or a cellphone, so this program helps them. Some older veterans are less technically savvy, so we help them get a smartphone and learn how to use it,” said Ramsey.
He works with civic organizations such as the Rotary Club of Coral Springs to promote the veterans’ cell phone program.
Those who cannot come to a cell phone distribution event can call Ramsey at 830-889-1759 or email him at veteranscoalitionofcs@gmail.com.
