The Coral Springs Improvement District is launching a districtwide water meter replacement program to modernize its metering system and provide customers with more accurate, reliable water usage information.
The project will replace approximately 10,000 residential, irrigation, and commercial water meters with Advanced Metering Infrastructure smart meters. The new technology is designed to maintain accuracy throughout its service life and to collect water usage data remotely, eliminating the need for manual meter readings.
According to a statement by CSID, water meters, like other mechanical devices, have a limited lifespan and can become less accurate as they age, potentially failing to record all water usage. Replacing older meters is a routine practice among utility providers to maintain reliability and ensure accurate customer billing.
The upgraded system is expected to provide customers with more accurate water bills, improved leak detection, quicker identification of service issues, and access to a new online customer portal. The portal will allow customers to monitor their water usage and identify potential leaks sooner.
The meter replacement program is funded through the Coral Springs Improvement District’s Capital Improvements Program and will not require a water rate increase related to the project.

Installation is expected to begin this summer and continue for approximately 12 months. Customers will receive advance notice before their scheduled meter replacement.
