A Coral Springs woman who called 911 to report that a man smashed her car window and struck her was arrested after police said she allegedly scratched his face and bit his hand.
According to Coral Springs Police Department arrest records, Dawn Marie Martin, 56, was initially arrested August 9 on a domestic battery charge following a confrontation at the home she shared with the victim. Records show the incident occurred at the home located near the 11400 block of Northwest 49th Drive.
Police say Martin called police and told officers the victim had arrived home under the influence of alcohol and smashed a window on her vehicle. She also alleged he struck her in the head, causing several lumps, but declined emergency medical services.
An officer investigating the case found the evidence told a different story.
Records show the officers on scene reported observing lacerations on the right side of the victim's face and bite marks on his hands.
The victim told police Martin discovered text messages involving alleged infidelity on his phone and began scratching his face.
When he attempted to stop her from continuing to hit him, Martin bit his right hand, according to his account in the report.
Officers arrested Martin and took her to Broward Health Coral Springs for evaluation and medical clearance. According to the report, medical staff examined her head and found no obvious signs of injury.
Officers transported Martin to the Broward County Main Jail for booking.
On September 8, records show she was again arrested for an alleged violation of a release condition associated with the case.
