In their first match of the season, the Coral Spring Charter girls volleyball team pulled out a thrilling win over Pembroke Pines Charter at home.
On Monday, the Panthers dropped the opening set 25-17 but rallied to win the next three, 25-11, 25-21, 25-22, to move to 1-0 for the third straight season.
Senior Alexandra Bruno led the team with 20 kills. She also had a block and an assist, while Sydney Mills had seven kills and 11 digs. Samantha McMillan, Sidney Berthiaume, Sydney Mills, and Jaide Keen recorded multiple kills, with Britney Stella, Mills, and Sarah Henault combined for 11 kills.
CSC is coming off one of their best seasons, where they went 20-5 and made it to Regionals. Despite having two of their top players graduate, the Panthers returned the majority of their team and added multiple underclassmen to the team.
Next, the Panthers will head on the road on Thursday, August 25, to face St. Thomas Aquinas High School in the team’s first road game. They will close the week against Don Soffer Aventura High School and then play 16 more regular season games before the postseason.
