From the Coral Springs City Commission:
As the school year ends, we congratulate all of the 2023 graduates on your success and look forward to seeing all that you accomplish in the future.
The arrival of summer in Florida is also the start of hurricane season. Now is the time for residents to review their Hurricane Preparedness Plans. Florida residents can take advantage of a “disaster preparedness” sales tax holiday through Friday, June 9, for the purchase of supplies like flashlights, batteries, and generators. Residents are encouraged to sign up for emergency alerts from the city, including severe weather advisories, by texting the keyword AlertCS to 888-777. For more information, visit CoralSprings.gov/Hurricane.
Special events are making a splash throughout the summer. Water Safety Day will take place on Saturday, June 3 at 10 a.m. at Cypress Park Pool (1300 Coral Springs Drive), where families can enjoy swimming, water play, and water safety information. Families can kick off summer in a cool way with Game Night at the Den with free ice skating on Thursday, June 8 at 6 p.m. at the Panthers IceDen (3299 Sportsplex Drive.) Pre-registration is required. Juneteenth will take place on Saturday, June 17 at the City Hall Lawn (9500 W. Sample Road.) This cultural celebration includes uplifting performances, food, and dancing.
Finally, one of our newest programs, Move with the Mayor, will continue this month. The program allows Mayor Scott Brook, along with a different commissioner each month, to interact with the community through one of their favorite activities. This month Mayor Brook and Commissioner Nancy Metayer Bowen will host Caribbean Dancing on Saturday, June 24, at the Senior Center at Sartory Hall (10150 NW 29th Street) at 10 a.m. More information about the city’s upcoming events can be found at CoralSprings.gov/Events.
The next Commission meetings take place on Wednesday, June 7 at 9 a.m. and Wednesday, June 21 at 6:30 p.m. Meetings are aired on CityTV, Blue Stream Channels 25, 25.7, 725, and on AT&T U-Verse channel 99. Meetings are also live-streamed at CoralSprings.gov/CityTV.
