Coral Springs High, Coral Glades Join New Space Florida Academy for STEM Careers

Students at Coral Springs High School and Coral Glades High School will soon have expanded opportunities to prepare for careers in aerospace, aviation and other high-demand STEM fields through a new partnership between Broward County Public Schools and Space Florida.

The district has launched the Space Florida Academy at nine Broward County high schools that already offer aerospace and engineering programs, including Coral Springs High and Coral Glades High.

The initiative is designed to connect students with academic coursework, industry experiences and career pathways that prepare them for Florida’s growing aerospace and aviation workforce.

Other participating schools include Blanche Ely High School, Boyd H. Anderson High School, Charles W. Flanagan High School, Miramar High School, Northeast High School, Piper High School and Plantation High School.

The academy will provide students with rigorous STEM instruction, hands-on learning opportunities, career exploration and partnerships with colleges, universities and industry leaders. Students will also have opportunities to earn industry-recognized credentials and gain real-world experience while still in high school.

Graduates of the Space Florida Academy will receive access to a job portal featuring employers that offer hiring preferences to academy graduates, helping students transition directly into the workforce after completing the program.

“Through the Space Florida Academy, Broward County Public Schools is expanding opportunities for students to explore cutting-edge careers while developing the skills necessary for success in college and today’s competitive workforce,” BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn said. “This partnership reflects our commitment to providing innovative educational experiences that connect classroom learning with real-world career pathways.”
